Inquiry Learning

Published by bernadettek

2008 has been a busy and exciting year for Grade 4K. This term we have been investigating the forces of weathering and erosion in an inquiry unit called ‘Break Away, Wash Away, Blow Away’. The students looked at the impact of erosion on their school ground and also researched some known landforms in relation to weathering and erosion.

‘Water -a  vital resource ’ is our current unit of work. Students are investigating the natural and urban water cycles. They are discovering ways we can conserve this precious resource both at school and in their homes. Our unit will conclude with a visit to the Mount Martha Treatment Plant where they will get to see first hand the process to clean our ‘black water’ before it is released into the bay. Also Kerry from South East Water will be visiting the school to discuss water conservation. She will also be bringing along with her Berwick Lodge Primary School’s water statistics over the last couple of years. I wonder what it will show us!
